Protecting Hearing Without Losing Sound

Hears was founded with a clear goal: to make hearing protection as natural and appealing as listening to music itself. ManGo Product Design was responsible for the design and development of advanced earplugs that combine performance, comfort and style. Developed in collaboration with world-famous DJs Ryan Marciano and Sunnery James, the earplugs encourage festival visitors and music lovers to protect their hearing without compromising on sound quality or aesthetics. By merging acoustic engineering with a fashion-forward design, Hears redefines what hearing protection can be for a generation that lives for music but is also aware about the damage it can cause.

From Concept to Certified Protection

When Hears approached ManGo, they were unaware that earplugs are officially classified as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) of which we as design experts informed them. Such legal requirements shape the entire design process. ManGo guided Hears through regulatory challenges, partnering with OEM specialist Elacin International to ensure certified production and testing. The collaboration enabled faster development and a reliable route to certification. ManGo and Hears worked together on product design , brand identity and packaging to launch a unified collection of earplugs that blend technical performance with visual appeal. Within one year of development, the brand was ready to enter the market with a product that met every safety and quality standard.

Fashion Meets Function

Hears wanted more than functional protection. The product needed to be a statement. ManGo developed three design concepts that seamlessly connected the earplug shape with the brand’s heart-shaped logo. The final design, combining two half-heart earplug outlines, created both a recognizable symbol and a functional fit for the ear. The metallic accent, known as the “Coin,” gives a jewelry-like finish that can be customized for artists, clubs or festivals. Each design element strengthens the message that hearing protection can be fashionable, personal and desirable.

A Sound Experience Without Compromise

The final Hears earplugs integrate a patented  membrane filter that mimics the natural response of the human ear. It reduces harmful vibrations while keeping sound quality crystal clear, allowing users to experience music as it is meant to be heard. ManGo also developed custom tools for precise filter assembly and metallization, ensuring premium production quality. After a successful launch, Hears quickly became a popular choice among music fans and professionals alike, with over 500.000 earplug sets sold in the first year and collaborations with leading brands like Yves Saint Laurant
and the iconic nightclubs of Pacha.
