Octo Actuators

Bringing Industrial Precision into the Bedroom
Octo Actuators is a German specialist in ultra-flat drive technology for adjustable beds, supplying advanced systems to the bedding industry worldwide. Until CosyLift, their technology always lived inside complete bed systems. Octo asked ManGo Product Design to help take a big step: create their very first direct-to-consumer product. The challenge went beyond hardware alone. This new product would also define a new brand identity for CosyWorld, where the design needed to communicate comfort, trust and ease of use from the very first glance. In short: industrial precision, but with a human, bedroom-friendly face.
Turning a Rough Prototype into a Consumer Product
The starting point was a functional but crude working prototype. It did what it promised, but looked and felt exactly like what it was: a technical proof of concept. ManGo was asked to transform this into CosyLift, a refined aftermarket solution that consumers can place underneath almost any mattress. The idea is deceptively simple: instead of replacing an entire bed, CosyLift allows users to add automated back-angle adjustment to the bed they already own. No renovation, no bulky mechanics, just smart comfort added quietly underneath the mattress; where technology belongs at bedtime.

Designing the Product and Brand Together
ManGo focused on product aesthetics, user experience and manufacturability , while Octo Actuators concentrated on the mechanical construction and actuation technology. Early in the process, we worked closely together to define the visual language of both CosyLift and future CosyWorld products. Through dedicated workshops, mood boards and design studies, we established a clear design direction. Our designers then translated this into sketches, selected the strongest concepts and developed them into detailed 3D models and high-quality renderings. The result is a product that feels calm, trustworthy and intuitive, exactly what you want from something that literally lifts you out of bed.

From Design to Production-Ready Reality
Once the final design direction was approved, ManGo detailed the selected 3D model, integrating additional functional and production requirements. The CAD files were then transferred to Octo Actuators for the final DFMA engineering, ensuring the design was ready for efficient manufacturing and assembly. In parallel, ManGo developed the complete packaging concept and user manual, making sure the unboxing and setup experience felt just as straightforward as the product itself. The result is a polished consumer product that bridges advanced actuator technology with everyday comfort, a quality recognized with an iF Design Award, and proof that smart bed tech doesn’t have to come with a whole new bed attached.
