A Decade of Design Strength
Some clients come and go. Lifemaxx stuck around, for more than ten years. In that time ManGo Product Design has developed dozens of fitness products that helped shape the Lifemaxx brand into a favorite across gyms, CrossFit boxes and training facilities. From robust hip thrusters to clever accessories that survive even the most enthusiastic athletes, we’ve been the quiet force behind the equipment that takes a beating so the users don’t have to. Year after year, the goal remained the same: smarter equipment, tougher products, better performance and a brand that keeps flexing while the competition tries to catch up.
Rethinking the Dumbbell Tower
The Lifemaxx Dumbbell Tower became a standout case, not just for its design, but for the opportunity to bring production back to the Netherlands. Almost all fitness racks and towers are welded together from steel tubes in China, a choice based purely on labor cost. But this came with the usual headaches: months of pre-financing, pricey sea freight, import tariffs, customs delays and quality issues too far away to fix quickly. When Lifemaxx asked us to redesign their dumbbell tower, we didn’t just think about geometry; we thought about logistics. We proposed a design engineered specifically for local production, so the product could be made closer to home with better quality control, shorter lead times and far fewer unpleasant surprises along the way.
Smart Manufacturing with Serious Muscle
To make reshoring realistic, we chose rotational moulding as the production method; ideal for large, extremely durable components that need to survive gym life without denting, bending or collapsing after one too many 20-kilo drops. By shaping the design entirely around this technique, the tower became strong, stable and unmistakably Lifemaxx, made possible by the distinctive forms this process allows. By partnering with a local manufacturer within our network, production moved to just 50 kilometers from the Lifemaxx warehouse. The result: lower production costs, faster restocking and a far more sustainable supply chain. In other words, a tower that not only lifts weights, but lifts the whole business.
Accessories Built to Take a Beating
Beyond equipment, we also redesigned hundreds of Lifemaxx accessories, including a new line of dumbbells that share the brand’s tough, no-nonsense identity. They’re overmoulded in a rugged, natural-looking rubber for long-term durability, and feature flattened sides so they won’t roll away mid-workout. The stability also unlocks extra exercises, giving trainers more options and users fewer excuses. Together, these products form a portfolio that enhances the Lifemaxx brand with equipment that looks good, performs hard and refuses to quit, much like the users who train with it.
