01

Initiation and design strategy

ManGo prioritizes research as the foundation for innovative product design. For each project, we evaluate critical challenges, such as regulatory requirements, competitor patents, and budget constraints. When not predefined by the client, we also help clarify product or service positioning.

Our process includes user and market research, competitor analysis, mood boards, and trend exploration. A key method in this early stage is conducting workshops with focus groups, applying User-Centered Design principles. These sessions are flexible and can be organized at the client’s site, ManGo’s offices, or any location best suited to the product development context.

Concept development

Great product design brings engineering feasibility, user experience, visual appeal, and sustainability together. After the Phase 1 research outcomes are approved and translated into a Product Design Specification (PDS), we move into collaborative brainstorming sessions with our design team.

  • Idea Generation: development of exploratory sketches that investigate aesthetics, technical solutions, ergonomics and semantics.

  • Concept Selection: the most promising ideas are further developed into multiple sketch concepts, which are reviewed and evaluated together with the client.

  • 3D CAD Development: the selected concept is translated into a detailed 3D CAD model, iteratively refined through close collaboration to ensure full alignment with the project objectives.

Prototyping & testing

Prototyping and testing are integral parts of our product development process, allowing us to improve functionality and optimize the user experience. In this phase, your innovation truly comes to life through multiple iterations that lead to a fully functional prototype. For new and innovative products especially, hands-on testing by both clients and end users is essential. Prototypes provide the fastest and most effective way to uncover opportunities for improvement and eliminate design flaws before moving into manufacturing. In many cases, these prototypes can also be used to support the certification process of your product.

Design For Manufacturing

In this phase, the final Colors, Materials and Finishes (CMF) for your product are defined. These choices, together with the selected manufacturing methods, form key inputs for 3D CAD engineering aimed at series production. When your product includes functional mechanisms, mechanical and mechatronic engineering are developed at this stage, including the integration of electronics, sensors, and actuators.

Where required, the design is validated using advanced CFD and FEM analyses. Once the engineering phase is completed, we produce fully detailed 2D CAD drawings, including tolerances. These drawings are essential for manufacturers to accurately quote molds and production.

Industrialization

Once your product design and development has been completed, the next step is arranging production. We can work with your production partner, or you can choose to use our network of trusted manufactures. If for your development requires specific suppliers these can be sourced and audited. In most cases, creating the molds required for manufacturing is the first step. ManGo has experience in all kinds of production methods from low-volume series without tooling to mass production requiring complex molds. ManGo can guide the mold making process, setup assembly procedures and draft your quality control documentation.

Production

When production starts, ManGo can support the execution and control of the manufacturing process to ensure your product is built exactly as intended. We work alongside your manufacturing partner, or through our trusted network, to monitor production quality, timelines and consistency.

During production, we help oversee golden samples, pilot runs and series production, addressing issues quickly and ensuring any deviations are resolved before they scale. We can support in quality inspections, supplier communication and ongoing alignment between engineering intent and manufactured reality. This hands-on involvement ensures your product is produced reliably, efficiently and to the required quality standards, giving you confidence as production volumes ramp up.
